Brighton East Interior
Sometimes you don’t need to build more, instead just reconfigure what you have to make it work better for a growing family.
Such was the case for our then Singapore-based clients who wanted to ensure the Californian bungalow they were returning to could accommodate their now hectic lifestyle with three primary school aged children.
Characteristics of the design of the project – which encompassed a kitchen, bathroom, ensuite and laundry as well as cabinetry throughout the house – reflect those of the family – fun-loving, industrious, energetic and sometimes even a little crazy!
Spaces and elements such as the kitchen’s concrete island bench, allow all kind of interaction and activities whilst the materials palette is diverse, eclectic and even a bit daring. Western red cedar, spotted gum and Russian birch plywood industriously combine with steel, tiles and concrete to create an unpredictable but flexible kitchen that is customised to the needs of an energetic family.
